We are delighted to announce that the DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY Bremen has now been officially admitted as a de:hub Smart Manufacturing in the nationwide de:hub initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK)! This is not only an important milestone for us, but also for our partners and the entire industry in Bremen. It validates our vision and our commitment to the digital future.

The official announcement of 10 new de:hubs took place at the Startup Germany Summit on September 17, 2024 in Berlin. Our hub was represented there by Bremen’s State Councillor for Economic Affairs Maike Frese, the Deputy Chairman of the DHI Christoph Ranze and our Hub Manager Frank Bittner. It was a great moment that put the spotlight on our work and collaborations in the region.

State Councillor Maike Frese shared her impressions with us:

“Berlin was a great event, it was especially terrific that the DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY Bremen is now on the map de:hub initiative.”

The de:hub initiative has become an important driver of the digital transformation in Germany and plays a key role in networking and promoting innovation in the digital ecosystem. It comprises a network of 25 digital hubs in various regions of the country and aims to bring start-ups together with established enterprises, investors, research institutions and other key stakeholders. This creates exciting collaborations that generate new ideas and solutions for the future of Germany.

As part of a nationwide initiative, the hubs gain more visibility and recognition, as well as access to a strong network that enables cross-industry and trans-regional cooperation. The network of de:hubs is also important in order to be able to refer specific inquiries, needs, or topics that are brought to the DHI by our stakeholders, start-ups and companies from Bremen or the surrounding area to hubs with the relevant expertise.

“We are very pleased that the DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY Bremen has been included in the national de:hub initiative. The hub is an important platform for networking between science and industry, and its industrial focus is an excellent fit for Bremen as a location. Cooperation and transfer activities, including in relation to the creation of start-ups, are significantly promoted at the DHI — and now also through national and international networking as part of the de:hub initiative,” says Michal Kucera, Chairman of the DHI and Vice-Rector of the University of Bremen for Research and Transfer.

We are convinced that becoming part of the de:hub initiative will not only open up new opportunities for us, but also for Bremen as a location. Together with our partners we will drive forward the digital transformation and promote innovation that will shape the industry of tomorrow. We look forward to walking this path together and actively shaping the future of industry in Bremen and beyond. Stay tuned for the next steps and developments — it’s going to be exciting!
